LIVING INSPIRED OUTDOORS

Come along with us in the field as we share our travels and adventures with you.

Join us as we continue our Expedition. We spend time traveling through the Utah desert in search of adventure and photographic opportunities. In this video, we focus on photographing the beautiful desert and canyonland landscapes in Utah. The rugged landscapes are not only breathtaking, but they are life affirming, allowing you to immerse yourself and feel the environment around you.

We have been traveling throughout the United States for the last 3 1/2 years, photographing and documenting our journey. This video is a collection of images that are my personal favorites from our explorations. Each photo is a story and an experience. I wanted to bring them together into a collection and share them with you all.

Thank you all for coming along with me on this journey supporting my work. We greatly appreciate everyone.

n this EXTRA from Expedition New Direction, we descend The Shafer Trail Switchbacks in Canyonlands National Park near Moab, UT. The trail was not difficult to navigate but was certainly narrow and steep. It was a lot of fun to explore.

In Chapter 3 of Expedition New Direction, we arrive in Moab, UT and continue exploring the Rimrocker Trail. We spend a few days driving and photographing along the trail until inclement weather and heat influence our decision to change direction and head further north on our journey. We end up in the Wasatch National Forest where we spent a lot of time last summer, a beautiful area in north central Utah.

On a crisp morning along the Clark Fork River in Western Montana, I sat down and recorded what was going through my mind. I take a few minutes to talk about why I choose to live like we are living, expressing my own insights into this topic.

In Chapter 2 of Expedition New Direction, we start the Rimrocker Trail in Montrose, CO and head towards Moab, UT on this approximately 160 mile overlanding route. We spend multiple days and nights exploring the trails, camping in fantastic locations, filming, and photographing this beautiful area as we live and work in the field.

Join us as we transition from traveling with our RV to Overlanding. We are Tim and Terri Malek and we are full time travelers, adventurers, explorers, and nature photographers focusing on landscape and wildlife photography.

We have spent several months building up our Overlanding Rig and have now departed on a four and a half month trip we are calling Expedition New Direction encapsulating our new method of travel, Overlanding.

In this video, Chapter 1, we start our adventure from our home base in Texas. We travel through Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado making our way northwest. We will be sharing our story along the way throughout this expedition series with many more chapters to come.

We explore the geography and wildlife of Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It's a fantastic destination for landscape, wildlife, or travel photography if you are in the area. Diversity of terrain and wildlife can be experienced in this beautiful 71,000 acre park. We took a couple of days to explore this region while spending most of the summer of 2019 in South Dakota. A quick side trip to Mount Rushmore is also included. Come along for the adventure.

Where did my love of nature begin? Come along with me and see where it happened. I grew up in a small rural area in Northwestern Pennsylvania and it forged my desire to spend as much time as possible in the wilderness. The serenity and beauty that wild spaces provide are crucial to people like me. I was fortunate to live here as a child and to this day I deeply respect it.

While filming birds in the grass along the creek in Meyer's Branch at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge yesterday, I had an Unexpected Visitor. This beautiful Whitetail Buck walked right up to me... unexpected, but very welcomed. A short video entry in my Field Journal.

Join me on a full day excursion from Dawn till Dusk at the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge in North Texas. Arriving before sunrise, I began my adventure. It is a wonderful place to observe and photograph wildlife, especially birds this time of the year. Throughout the day, I moved around and spent time with different species ending the day at sunset shooting a landscape image. We don't always get the opportunity to invest an entire day in nature so when we do, it is very special. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed filming it.

This video documents the time I spent at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge last winter, from mid December 2019 to mid January 2020. I spent a total of 15 days in the field photographing and filming. The wildlife in this beautiful refuge is very diverse and while some of it’s inhabitants are permanent, others are seasonal along with the annual migrations. Come along with me and enjoy the ride.

Come along with me on a beautiful Texas fall morning as I go to Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge in North Texas. This area is along many migratory species' path. There are numerous permanent residents in the refuge as well including whitetail deer, feral hogs, bobcat, coyote, raccoon, beaver, many reptiles and so many more.
